LS Power’s Rise Light & Power Teams Up with NYCHA
Kudos to LS Power Group’s Rise Light & Power company for their continual efforts to support their surrounding Queensbridge, Ravenswood, Astoria, and Woodside communities.
Teaming up with the New York City Housing Authority (NYCHA), Rise contributed over $480,000 towards various programs and events, part of its close to $600,000 in charitable donations last year. (Other recipients included the Jacob A. Riis Neighborhood Settlement, as well as local schools in support of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics programs, etc.)
Through Rise’s NYCHA partnership, positive neighborhood impacts in 2021 included:
- Backpack Giveaway – Rise hosted a backpack giveaway for kids in the area, providing 400 children with backpacks and school supplies to kick off the start of the school year
- Turkey Giveaway – annual turkey giveaway provided $25,000 in turkeys for community members celebrating Thanksgiving
- Toy Giveaway – hosted at the front gate of Rise’s Ravenswood Generating Station, where Rise donated over $25,000 worth of toys for local children and families to enjoy during the holiday season
Additionally, Rise made over $50,000 of donations towards personal protection equipment for those in need, and provided over $250,000 of support for programs focused on combating food insecurity and violence.
LS Power’s Rise Light & Power is proud to serve its local communities and light New York’s future as it modernizes its facilities and invests in clean energy infrastructure. These investments will help Rise continue to play a vital role in delivering reliable and cost-effective energy solutions for our neighbors across the region — as it has done since 1963. Knowing that Climate Change and Environmental Justice issues are real, Rise is working to address both and advance the renewable energy transition taking place in New York State and the region.
