LS Power’s Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Policy provides the foundation for our Responsible Operations. LS Power is committed to protecting human health and the environment while creating shared value for our stakeholders. We do this in four key ways:

  • Developing, constructing, acquiring, and operating facilities in a manner that meets all applicable federal, state and local environmental regulatory standards
  • Carefully monitoring our power generation and transmission operations, promptly taking appropriate steps to correct any non-compliance and mitigating any resulting impact
  • Training and educating employees and project staff on the potential environmental impact associated with plant operations and the procedures for mitigating negative impact in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local environmental regulatory standards
  • Evaluating and monitoring performance by periodically conducting self-assessments and third-party audits of our fleet operations

Additionally, LS Power understands that climate change is the defining issue of our time and we are now facing a pivotal moment. Shifting and intensifying weather patterns, rising sea levels and other global impacts are unprecedented in scope and scale. Moreover, population and load variability require energy infrastructure providers to meet existing and new demand. We are committed to helping meet these challenges while making critical investment decisions that advance all of us toward a greener grid.

Climate Change and Avoided Carbon

To better understand some of the short-term and long-term impacts of our investment decisions, particularly how the generation of lower and no-carbon electricity can tangibly contribute to decarbonization, we calculated the avoided greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions through December 2021. To read more about our how we contribute to decarbonization, please see the Climate Change and Avoided Carbon section of our Sustainability Report.

93.2M metric tons of net avoided CO2e through 2022

Equivalent to 20,739,822 passenger vehicles taken off the road for a year

Greening the Grid

LS Power’s roots in developing cutting-edge technologies dates back to the 1990s. Today, we are one of the largest private developers of high-voltage transmission, crucial for connecting renewable resources in inaccessible areas to more densely populated centers, as well as battery storage, a critical complement to intermittent, weather dependent wind and solar energy. Additionally, we extended our legacy success as one of the first private developers of utility-scale solar generation to become one of the largest private owners and operators of pumped storage hydro and wind generation projects, with plans to build additional solar and wind projects ahead. To read more about how LS Power is working to protect our environment, please see the Greening the Grid section of our Sustainability Report.

Across our collective efforts, LS Power is proud to facilitate new forms of clean energy and support the electrification of our economy, taking the necessary steps to ensure a healthier environment for future generations.
