LS Power NJ Office Volunteers at Roosevelt Elementary School

LS Power NJ Office Volunteers at Roosevelt Elementary School

Shout out to the LS Power New Jersey office in East Brunswick, where 20 private equity operations group volunteers kicked off the month of June by lending their time and effort at Roosevelt Elementary School.

Roosevelt Elementary School is located in the heart of New Brunswick and is committed to Preparing, Empowering and Inspiring life-long learners and leaders. The school has an enrollment of 900 students in Kindergarten through 5th grade, with a free and reduced lunch rate of 75%.

LS Power volunteers painted inspirational murals throughout the hallways of Roosevelt Elementary School, as well as line games to provide outdoor play for students during recess. Between the donation of materials (costing ~$3,000) and time (80 volunteer hours), the day of philanthropy was both fun and productive!

The volunteer activity was coordinated with Jersey Cares, a nonprofit organization established in 1993 that works to increase civic engagement in New Jersey by coordinating volunteer opportunities to address community-identified needs.

LS Power’s commitment to New Jersey is long standing, as beyond an office in East Brunswick that employs more than 70 people, LS Power operates three generation facilities there: West Deptford Energy Station, as well as Mars Solar & Yards Creek Hydro Stations through LS Power company REV Renewables.

Additionally, LS Power’s Silver Run Electric Transmission project runs between New Jersey and Delaware, and represents the first competitively solicited transmission project by PJM (deemed in its selection report as being lower cost and environmentally superior, with first-of-its-kind project cost cap). Additional transmission development efforts are underway, including LS Power Grid’s Clean Energy Gateway proposal to connect Offshore Wind to NJ’s Onshore Grid.

LS Power community philanthropy in New Jersey has totaled more than $256,000 to date, part of our greater community giving efforts in PJM of $2.6 million.
