LS Power and Energy Industry Veteran Zin Smati Launch LifeEnergy, a New North American Energy Company

LifeEnergy to focus on delivering energy products and services to residential and business customers across North America

LS Power and energy industry leader Zin Smati today announced the launch of LifeEnergy, LLC (“LifeEnergy”), a new energy company focused on providing electricity, gas, mobile LNG, solar and distributed generation to residential and business customers throughout North America.

Funded by an affiliate of LS Power, a leading power generation, transmission and investment group, and managed by chairman and chief executive officer Zin Smati, LifeEnergy will be headquartered in Houston, with plans to expand nationally and then into Mexico and Canada. The company is actively building its team and assessing potential acquisitions across a variety of markets.

“The North American energy industry is in a state of transition. I believe strongly that there is a tremendous opportunity in the marketplace to build a nationally branded and scalable energy company focused on delivering a variety of products and services for both residential and business customers,” said Mr. Smati. “With its entrepreneurial culture and track record of success, LS Power is exactly the type of partner that can help build LifeEnergy into a company admired by customers, partners and employees.”

“We are very excited about the opportunity to partner with Zin on LifeEnergy,” said Paul Segal, chief executive officer of LS Power. “Zin brings an enormous amount of energy sector knowledge and experience to the company and is widely known as an accomplished business builder and manager.”
