LS Power Donates Towards Hunger Relief Efforts in Ukraine
Following an employee’s request for a matching program to amplify their giving effort to relieve hunger and #StandWithUkraine, LS Power extended its community giving efforts overseas. With 74 employee donations and matching company funds, we were able to contribute $31,136 to World Central Kitchen (WCK), a not-for-profit, non-governmental organization devoted to providing meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises.
Since it was founded in 2010 by Chef José Andrés, WCK has served over 12.7 million fresh meals across eight countries. In its latest efforts in Ukraine, WCK took action swiftly, serving meals within days of the Russian Invasion to families traveling and waiting at border crossings in Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and other surrounding areas. WCK quickly mobilized local restaurants and expanded efforts to provide hot meals at shelters, train stations, hospitals, etc.
“Within hours, Jose and the team arrived in Irpin where we met the mayor who then took us to the city of Bucha. The areas have been devastated by the violence, and it was a somber day as we distributed hundreds of meals to seniors, women, and children – many in tears after enduring the unthinkable horrors for a month. ” -WCK team
The war on Ukraine has devastated areas and left many without food or water. World Central Kitchen was there to help despite the conditions, for which LS Power is thankful to be able to provide support. To learn more about how you can also be of aid, please see World Central Kitchen for more information.
