Paul Segal
Chief Executive Officer
Paul Segal joined LS Power in 1998 and serves as Chief Executive Officer.
Paul is a member of the Management Committee and Investment Committee. Since being named CEO in 2011, he has led the Firm’s evolution from a power generation-focused developer into one of the largest and most diversified energy infrastructure companies in the United States, spanning competitive generation, transmission, renewables, battery storage, energy services, and EV charging. Under his leadership, LS Power expanded its operating platforms with the $2.5 billion acquisition of Algonquin Power’s renewable energy business in 2025 and completed the approximately $12 billion sale of the Firm’s 13 GW gas generation portfolio and CPower to NRG Energy in January 2026, among the largest U.S. energy infrastructure transactions. Before becoming CEO, Paul oversaw asset management and renewables development and in 2002 founded Luminus Management, a hedge fund he grew to over $1 billion in assets under management. He serves as Chairman of REV Renewables and as a director of EVgo, Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO). Prior to LS Power, Paul began his career in mergers and acquisitions at Smith Barney.
Paul graduated with highest honors from Rutgers School of Engineering with a B.S. in Biochemical Engineering.
Paul and his wife Jenna fund research into hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and hypermobility spectrum disorder, the Jenna and Paul Segal Endowed Professorship of Artificial Intelligence at Harvey Mudd College, and medical research at Mount Sinai and Weill Cornell Medicine. Paul serves on the Mount Sinai Department of Medicine Advisory Board, Weill Cornell Medicine Dean’s Council, and boards of the Digestive Disease Research Foundation and NYU School of Law’s Institute for Policy Integrity.
