Supporting Texas Communities

Cross Texas Transmission invests in local communities where our operations are located, namely in the Texas Panhandle and Brazos Valley. Since 2012, Cross Texas Transmission has donated over $1.2 million to help support charitable organizations that fit with our mission and values including community and health support, youth and educational programs, hunger relief, environmental initiatives, and economic development and empowerment.

“It is rewarding to experience the impact of our investment in communities across the Texas Panhandle and the Brazos Valley,” said Cameron Fredkin, chief operating officer of Cross Texas Transmission’s parent affiliate, LS Power Grid. “We hope that by establishing long-term partnerships with local organizations, we can spread awareness of critical initiatives and do our best to move their missions forward.”

Highlights of our community engagement programs in Texas include:

Brazos Valley

Fighting Hunger Across Texas

Cross Texas Transmission is committed to fighting hunger across the Brazos Valley. Through 2024, we have donated over $88,000 to the Brazos Valley Food Bank, Capital Area Food Bank, East Texas Food Bank, and other organizations to support hunger relief programs in the Brazos Valley area.

Backpack Programs

Over a third of children in the Brazos Valley face food insecurity. A portion of the funds Cross Texas Transmission has donated are allocated to the food banks’ BackPack Programs, which support children on the weekends and holidays when school meals are not available.

Cross Texas Transmission’s support has helped develop BackPack Programs for the Iola Elementary School and the Centerville Elementary School.

“We are extremely grateful to Cross Texas Transmission for their very generous support,” said Dennis Cullinane, former CEO of East Texas Food Bank. “Feeding our children and ensuring…a sound nutritional foundation is critical to their education, their future and the development of our community.”

Family Mobile Food Pantries

A portion of our donations to the food banks has also supported mobile food pantries in Madison and Leon counties.

Texas PanhandleHunger Relief

High Plains Food Bank is striving to end local hunger in the Texas Panhandle. Cross Texas Transmission has donated over $50,000 since 2014 to help High Plains Food Bank fight hunger in its 28-county service area.

Education

After discussions with local community leaders, we chose to partner with educational institutions to ensure students within the Panhandle had access to the resources needed to improve learning and promote promising futures. Some of the major institutions we have donated to in this category include West Texas A&M University, Amarillo College, and Clarendon College.

Health Care

Cross Texas Transmission also supports initiatives that offer assistance to local residents in need of medical care. We are proud to be corporate sponsors for the Medical Center League House and the American Heart Association.

Amarillo Medical Center League House

Through 2024, Cross Texas Transmission has donated more than $140,000 to the Amarillo Medical Center League House. The hospitals and medical care facilities in Amarillo are often the only options available for families for miles around the city, and patients commonly must travel a substantial distance to receive the care they need. The League House provides patients and their families with a place to stay at the lowest cost when a loved one needs medical attention at a hospital away from home.

“Cross Texas Transmission and its employees are very sincere about helping the communities they serve,” said Amber Glawe, president and executive director of the Medical Center League House. “The Medical Center League House in Amarillo has been very fortunate to be on the receiving end of their kindness… which has helped us help families who travel to Amarillo for medical care during their time of need, whether it is an emergency hospital stay, cancer treatments, hospice visits or funerals.”

Public Safety

2024 Panhandle Wildfires

In 2024, wildfires in the Texas Panhandle caused significant damage. The Smokehouse Creek Fire alone burned an estimated 1,058,482 acres. Cross Texas Transmission donated $5000 to support Panhandle fire departments and the company’s corporate affiliate, LS Power, also contributed another $5000 for the Texas wildfires.

Central Texas

Partnerships for Children

Since 2017, Cross Texas Transmission has donated over $30,000 to Partnerships for Children. Partnerships for Children helps to bridge the gap between limited government resources and the needs of children and families in the care of Child Protective Services. They provide services and programs that offer resources, support and comfort for foster children in central Texas.

People’s Community Clinic

Cross Texas Transmission supports the People’s Community Clinic’s mission to improve the health of medically underserved and uninsured Central Texans by providing high quality, affordable health care with dignity and respect. Through 2024, Cross Texas Transmission has donated $12,000 to help patients receive cancer screenings, needed immunizations, and pregnancy care.

Cross Texas Transmission’s contributions impact countless lives in Texas. Our ongoing commitment to our communities fosters resilience, compassion, and hope within the regions we serve.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of my job is participating in our community donation efforts.  Visiting organizations and seeing what takes place behind the scenes really puts in perspective how our donation contributes to the community,” said Erica Read, Office Manager at Cross Texas Transmission’s Amarillo office. “They are always so grateful and really appreciate what our company does for them.”
