LS Power’s University Park Project Supports Grundy Area PADS

LS Power’s University Park project is grateful for the opportunity to help organizations like Grundy Area PADS, who donate their time and efforts to keeping community members safe and warm amidst weather and other challenges.

Grundy Area PADS provides emergency shelter during the coldest months of the year to those experiencing homelessness in Illinois, and expressed appreciation for University Park’s $10,000 donation as they have endured added challenges to their operations this year due to COVID-19.

Evictions have been on the rise in Grundy County as eviction moratoriums have been reaching expiration, and Grundy Area PADS is seeing the direct impact of this in their growing waiting lists for emergency shelter and housing.

With cold weather on the way, and a waiting list of over 70 Grundy County households for our emergency shelter, we have been struggling to accommodate even a small fraction of the people who have contacted us for help.  This donation from LS Power is going to make a huge difference in the lives of many people who are in crisis right now.” – Janice Grant, Director, Phoenix Rising Rapid Re-Housing Program of Grundy Area PADS

Over the past year, University Park has contributed over $91,000 to groups including CASA, Grundy Area PADS, Guardian Angel, Lori’s Place Hospice, Operation St. Nick, the University Park Fire Department, We Care of Grundy, and more.  This is part of the over $189,000 in donations by LS Power to Illinois charitable organizations across our projects in 2021. LS Power is thankful for the opportunity to support such wonderful organizations that work towards bettering their communities and helping those in need.
