LS Power Grid Honors Veterans through Guardians of Freedom Memorial Contribution

Shout out to LS Power Grid New York, who teamed up with our Central East Energy Connect transmission construction partners to contribute $50,000 to the Guardians of Freedom Memorial, thanking our veterans and community members who serve. LS Power Grid’s donation helped Guardian of Freedom Memorial make progress towards its goal of raising $350,000 to finish the memorial and honor both veterans and their working dogs.

Guardians of Freedom Memorial is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to honor the military and first responder working dogs that make sacrifices on the battlefield every day. To pay tribute to the teamwork, courage, and continued sacrifice, Guardians of Freedom Memorial is working to raise money towards the build of a bronze statue depicting Armed Forces Military Handler Sergeant Adam Cann and his dog, Bruno. During their deployment in Afghanistan, Sgt. Cann protected two fellow Marines and Bruno after a detonated device was set off, becoming the first military K-9 handler to die in combat since the Vietnam War, for which he received the Bronze Star for Valor. Both Sgt. Cann and Bruno’s selfless acts were commendable, and LS Power is proud to show our support in honoring them.

“LS Power Grid New York is committed to supporting and improving the communities’ around our projects. In that spirit, we are proud to honor our veterans and their working dogs by contributing to this memorial.”  – Casey Carroll, Vice President, LSP Grid

The donation from LSP Grid New York will go towards site preparations, construction and the addition of walkways nearby. See below for photos of the progress made so far:
