LS Power Announces Scholarship Award

LS Power is pleased to announce the winner of the 2008 Plum Point Energy Station Scholarship for Academic Excellence. “We are thrilled to award the 2008 Scholarship to Osceola High School graduating senior, Casey D. Whitehead., based on his academic achievements, extra curriculum activities, and his desire to pursue a degree in a technical field,” said JoAnn Bova, Director with LS Power. “We wish success to all of the seniors who applied for the scholarship and want to extend a special thanks to the local representation of the Scholarship Committee for their involvement in the scholarship process.”

Mr. Whitehead has been accepted to Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas and intends to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Mr. Whitehead has dedicated personal time to community projects, volunteerism, and the pursuit of academic excellence. He is a long term resident of Osceola and is a 2008 graduate from Osceola High School.

The Plum Point Energy Station Scholarship for Academic Excellence was established by LS Power to encourage Osceola High School students to pursue careers in engineering and science. The Scholarship will be awarded each year during construction of the Plum Point Energy Station to one Osceola High School graduating senior who intends to pursue a degree in engineering, physical science or environment science. The Scholarship includes four years of tuition to attend the college of the student’s choice to obtain a bachelor’s degree in one of the eligible majors. Applications for the 2009 Scholarship are expected to be available in January 2009.
