LS Power Announces Scholarship Award

LS Power is pleased to announce the winner of the 2009 Plum Point Energy Station Scholarship for Academic Excellence. “We are excited to be awarding the 2009 Scholarship to Osceola High School graduating senior, Sarah R. Hearod, based on her academic achievements, extra curriculum activities, and her desire to pursue a degree in a technical field,” said Eric Crawford, Vice President with LS Power. “We wish success to all of the seniors who applied for the scholarship and want to extend a special thanks to the local representation of the Scholarship Committee and the high school administration for their involvement in the scholarship process.”

Ms. Hearod will be attending the University of the Ozarks in pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry. Ms. Hearod has dedicated personal time to after school tutoring, community services and the pursuit of academic excellence. She has been active in extracurricular activities ranging from athletics, to artistic performances, to the Science Club.

The Plum Point Energy Station Scholarship for Academic Excellence was established by LS Power to encourage Osceola High School students to pursue higher education and careers in engineering and science. The Scholarship will be awarded each year during construction of the Plum Point Energy Station to one Osceola High School graduating senior who intends to pursue a degree in engineering, physical science or environment science. The Scholarship includes four years of tuition to attend the college of the student’s choice to obtain a bachelor’s degree in one of the eligible majors. Applications for the 2010 Scholarship are expected to be available in January 2010.
